The Great Deceiver are the vision of vocal legend Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates, Disfear, etc) and longtime friend Kristian Wahlin (Necrolord), visual artist to legendary bands At The Gates, Dissection, etc. Together, they formed the band just after the demise of At The Gates in 1996.

The Great Deceiver have constantly evolved since their inception, progressing past the trends of the day, they have made a career of defying limiting classifications. With releases on labels as diverse as Trustkill (Bleeding Through, This Is Hell, etc) and Peaceville (Paradise Lost, At The Gates, etc), they've solidified their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in both the metal and hardcore worlds. Appealing to both scenes lethally and equally as a new kind of aggressive aural amalgamation.

Produced and engineered by Berno Paulsson (The Haunted), "Life Is Wasted On The Living" takes their trend killing approach to new heights. Combining the intensity of hardcore, the power of metal, and the hook laden repetition of industrial, into a new kind of musical apocalypse.
