Pre-order now: Planes Mistaken For Stars "Prey", in stores 10/21, new song up now
In stores October 21st.
Pre-order now in the DW Store.

Planes Mistaken For Stars formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1997 and relocated to Denver Colorado in 1999. From the outset they were an artistic anomaly; carrying both a worn rust belt heart a warm midwestern soul. Collectively they combined different kinds of musical rebellion; hardcore aggression, punk energy, and gritty rock n’ roll spirit into their own special noise. Ultimately laying the blueprint for today’s emotional punk rock resurgence.

"Prey" is the long awaited new album from Planes Mistaken For Stars. Produced and engineered by Sanford Parker (Wovenhand, Leviathan, Yob), "Prey" is a beautifully haunting return to form. In need of isolation to finish writing the album, founder Gared O’Donnell took to the road alone. Instead of finding a predictable muse, he found himself driving deep into the crumbling heart of middle America. There, Gared took up residence in decrepit motels, finding inspiration in the descending darkness surrounding him.

Chaotic opener "Dementia Americana" serves as a rude awakening with the lyrical crescendo of "Wake Up!" being shouted over and over again. It's as if the creators are fighting to emerge from the eternal tumble of a nightmare. From there, the next five songs are seemingly instant Planes Mistaken For Stars classics; "Til' It Clicks", "Riot Season", "F*cking Tenderness", "She Who Steps", and "Clean Up Mean". All of them are multi-layered, melodic, and infectious in a way that only they can be. These lead to the touching "Black Rabbit"; a stark acoustic number that shows Gared at his most vulnerable. "Pan In Flames" and "Enemy Blinds" then creep into view. Two powerful songs explore almost apocalyptic musical territory. These usher in the jaw dropping closer "Alabaster Cello" which ends with the lyrical mantra of "Now We Wake...". Signaling that the figurative slumber is over for this off kilter and brilliant cult status band.

"High velocity punk that ain't afraid to shake a tail feather." - NPR

Oakland, CA trio Super Unison features Meghan O'Neil Pennie (formerly of PUNCH) on bass and vocals, Justin Renninger (formerly of Snowing) on drums, and Kevin DeFranco on guitar. Formed in 2014, they released a self-titled EP on vinyl and cassette formats soon after. The EP was incredibly well-received and praised by publications far and wide, from Rolling Stone to Brooklyn Vegan. The band toured the western portion of the USA following the EP's release, which included shows with Shook Ones, Self Defense Family, Coliseum, Dogs on Acid and more. As veterans of the Bay Area scene and beyond, Super Unison have become known for their incendiary live show in their relatively short time as a band thus far.

Super Unison have partnered with Deathwish to release their anticipated new album, "Auto". The album was recorded at Atomic Garden Studios by Jack Shirley (Oathbreaker, Deafheaven, Loma Prieta). Like their self-titled EP, Super Unison's latest offering is concise and intense with most frantic songs coming in at the two minute mark. Within "Auto", Super Unison introduce a wash of discordant melody and texture into the fray. Keeping things fast paced and smartly aggressive at every twist and turn.

"Rheia" is the groundbreaking album from Belgium's Oathbreaker. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), "Rheia" is a true game changer for the genre. Blurring lines and dissolving the boundaries of heavy music as we know it today.

Opener "10:56" begins with a haunting guitar riff and Caro Tanghe's beautifully sung vocal before abruptly soaring to new heights with "Second Son of R". Its blasts of melody mutate into a blackened buzz while waves of tempo changes pound down with intense emotional weight. "Being Able To Feel Nothing" then rolls in like a storm. Chaotically breaking apart to reveal the eye before churning once again. "Stay Here / Accroche-Moi" is an otherworldly reverb drenched acoustic number that leads to "Needles In Your Skin". A deeply personal song that showcases the artistic strength vulnerability brings. It's hard to believe that this is just the half way point of this post everything masterwork. "Immortals" then unfurls as a goose bump inducing monster. This leads to the ambitious "I'm Sorry, This Is", "Where I Live", and "Where I Leave”; A musical triptych that needs to be heard to be believed. All of it comes to an end with mesmerizing closer "Begeerte". Ethereally materializing before vanishing into the beautiful unknown.

Out now: Harm Wülf "Hijrah" CD/LP/Digital
Harm Wülf is G. Hirsch, known for his lyrical and vocal work in Blacklisted. Harm Wülf is inspired by a range of artists: from the tranquil resonance of Low, to the rhythmic acoustic strumming of Strength Through Joy, and the ascending power of Angels Of Light. Even calling to the insular/grotesque Americana of Cormac McCarthy and Flannery O'Connor, etc. Most times sparse and austere and at others apocalyptically orchestrated, Harm Wülf has the sound of something long since missing.

"Hijrah" is the emotional sophomore album from Harm Wülf. Where the debut album (Deathwish, 2013) was primarily built on the singer/songwriter experience, "Hijrah" introduces a wash of stark instrumentation with Jon Nean of Blacklisted on Bass and engineer/musician Arthur Rizk (Inquisition, Prurient) on Percussion backing G. Hirsch as he performs all vocal, guitar, and harmonica duties. Altogether they have created a dark and emotional atmosphere that is more fully realized than ever before.

Out now: Cursed "III: Architects of Troubled Sleep" 12"LP Reissue
The highly anticipated vinyl repress of "Three: Architects of Troubled Sleep", the final album from Cursed.

This definitive version of "Three" was manufactured using brand new pressing plates, making the release sound better than ever. Presented in a gatefold jacket with revamped artwork from illustrator John Baizley (Baroness, etc).

This is the third in a series of singular represses of the entire Cursed full length catalog from Deathwish ("One" and "Two" are now available). Cursed "Two" and "Three" albums were originally released by the defunct Goodfellow label, and are under exclusive license to Deathwish from Sonic Unyon Distribution.

A final limited box set of all three albums and a book of Cursed related material by Chris Colohan will be released later down the road via a partnership of Deathwish and Colohan's own label, High Anxiety.

Cursed were Canada's metallic monstrosity fronted by vocalist/lyricist Chris Colohan formerly of The Swarm, Left For Dead, and Ruination. The band also featured former Ire and Black Hand members. Distinctly their own animal, Cursed took the most powerful qualities of the aggressive sub-genres and turned them into something raw and explosive. Ultimately influencing and shaping the heavy music world as we know it today.

In 2008, Cursed unleashed what many consider to be their hardest hitting album, "Three: Architects of Troubled Sleep". After playing a number of intimate shows and a single record release show in Canada, they embarked on an ill-fated European Tour. On the last morning of the tour, they were robbed of all of their money, passports, etc. The robbery from within their own community was what Colohan has described as the "bullet in the head" of the band. Cursed played one final show in Amsterdam that day, and went their separate ways. For some of the members, it was the last time they ever saw each other.

Out now: Frameworks "Smother" CD/LP/Digital
Since their 2011 inception, Gainesville's Frameworks have become a favorite of many in the emotional hardcore scene. Creating music in the vein of Touché Amore, Explosions in the Sky, Modern Life Is War, and other uniquely powerful artists. After a string of EP releases, Frameworks released their "Loom" album on the Topshelf label in 2014. The album was well received worldwide by critics and listeners alike. In early 2016, Frameworks returned with their "Time Spent" EP. A well received release that showed the band broadening their approach through the use of darker, more experimental instrumentation.

"Smother" is the highly anticipated sophomore album from Frameworks, and their first for the Deathwish label. The album was recorded by Matt McClellan (Being As An Ocean, O’ Brother, etc) at Glow In The Dark Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright (Converge, Self Defense Family, etc) at Audiosiege Mastering. "Smother" as a whole is a massive leap forward for Frameworks. The album dynamically pulses with hook-laden melodious riffs and moving emotional crescendos. All of it gushing with a rare creative beauty and maturity that will appeal to listeners from all corners of the underground music world.

"You Fail Me" from Converge is the classic follow up to their landmark "Jane Doe" full length album.

Originally released in 2004, the brute force and emotional power on "You Fail Me" is unparalled. Solidifying their reign in the genre that they have defined for over two decades. Never quite content with the original mix, "You Fail Me" Redux was remixed by guitarist Kurt Ballou at his God City studios. The release was also remastered by Alan Douches (Motorhead, Mastodon), and repackaged by vocalist/artist Jacob Bannon.

Out now: Death Index "Death Index" CD/LP/Digital
Death Index is a new project of Carson Cox (Merchandise, Neon Blud, Church Whip) and Marco Rapisarda (La Piovra, Sgurd, Archaic). Their debut album was conceived and recorded between Berlin, Tampa Bay, and Palermo, Italy.  Born in Sicily. Dead in America. Born again in Berlin. Songs about Death and Dying. Computer Death. Social Death. Animal Violence.

Death Index has yielded an album that has more in common with the primordial days of art punk than anything out there today. Roaring out of the gate with a feedback driven gallop, the album brings to mind the swagger of The Birthday Party and others. Simple synth lines and manic guitars swirl heavily throughout. Conjuring the experimental spirit of legends Suicide, while Carson’s infectious vocal croon serves as a melodious anchor through a multitude of unpredictable twists and turns.

Out now: Bossk "Audio Noir" CD/LP/Digital
Bossk are an atmospheric post-everything band from Ashford, Kent, England.

Over the course of a decade Bossk have blurred the lines between the Post Metal and Post Rock sub-genres, earning cult like status in the underground music scene. They've selectively shared stages with bands including ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Cult of Luna, Dragged Into Sunlight, and many more.

Their album "Audio Noir" is a truly transcendent aural experience. Opener "The Reverie" transports the listener to new dimensions through hypnotic repetition and layered instrumentation before taking a turn into stoner doom territory with "Heliopause". Emotional instrumental "Relancer" builds to a sonic crescendo while leading to the awesome "Kobe". A song that shifts a multitude of gears before setting into one of the more chaotic hooks the band has ever produced. "Atom Smasher" then carries some of the heaviest moments of the album before beautifully disintegrating into the touching track "Nadir". Lastly, Bossk unveil "The Reverie II", a brilliant ten minute reprise that shows the band at the peak of their creative powers. Solidifying "Audio Noir" as the best kind of masterpiece; a sea change that the music world never saw coming.

Out now: Birds In Row "Personal War 12"EP/CD/Digital
Birds In Row are a melodic and abrasive band from Laval, France.

Blurring the lines between hardcore, punk, and related sub-genres, Birds In Row offer something of substantial weight to their listeners. Collectively carrying somber hearts and poignant souls, they navigate through melancholic seas to shape beautifully hook-laden songs unlike anything else out there today.

“Personal War” is a seven track outpouring from Birds In Row. First proper song “Torches” breaks into a sprint from the get go. Drenched in expressive guitar work, it tells the tale of life’s light overcoming death’s darkness. The race continues with “O-Dear” and “Weary”. Two musically infectious songs that are lyrically entangled in the complexity of love. “Worried” then wanders into view as a beautifully melodic piece, slowing to an introspective shuffle before the chaotic “Snakes” picks up the pace again. All of this leads to emotional closer “Marathon”. A song that serves as Birds In Row’s declaration of war on the world of ethical and emotional compromise.

Out now: Chrome Over Brass "Self Titled" 12"LP/Digital
Chrome Over Brass is the one man instrumental band of Alex Garcia-Rivera, drummer of American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost). As a highly regarded drum technician he has helped meticulously craft memorable drum sounds on landmark releases from Converge, Coliseum, Beastmilk, and more. He has also served as touring drummer for Cold Cave, Saves The Day, Shelter, and many others.

After years of playing in traditional multi-member bands, Alex set out to do something that was 100% of his creation and control. Chrome Over Brass takes the traditional approach to songwriting and flips it upside down. Alex Garcia-Rivera's thunderous drum-riffs serve as the epicenter of everything rather than typical guitar-riffing/melody. The end result is a proto prog-punk mix that combines a High On Fire toughness with Don Caballero-like proficiency and swagger, all propelled by an urge for late 60s / early 70s inspired artistic exploration.

In a live setting Chrome Over Brass is an impressive sight. Alex Garcia-Rivera performs all percussion alongside his pre-recorded instrumentation, without breaks, making Chrome Over Brass a one-man experience unlike anything else out there.

A true DIY project, the debut album from Chrome Over Brass was recorded in a 100% analog process on 2 inch tape at Alex Garcia-Rivera’s own Mystic Valley Studio, a fully analog studio he built with his own hands. Each song is comprised of one complete drum performance on a simple 5 piece drum set (made by Alex himself), with no digital editing. Even guitar and bass tracks were recorded in singular takes; a true rarity in today's cut and paste music world.

Side-A opener "Elephants Never Forget" stomps out of the gate as a phased out exercise in post-everything heavy. While "Bear Attack", "Crush On The Derbyshire", and "Here Come The Stukas" all collectively pick up the pace, introducing technical speed and simple riffing with epic results. Side-B begins with even more impressive musicality in "Black Rainbow" and "Fighting With Tooth And Nailgun". While synth drenched psychedelic jam "Moogs for Moderns" grants some moments of sonic serenity. That’s not all, "Jeeps On Safari" cleverly emerges from the haze with a hook laden bounce, leading to wild closer “One Night In St. Regis”. A hyper speed percussive blast that needs to be heard to be believed.

Side A
Elephants Never Forget 0:00-2:27 (2:27)
Bear Attack 2:30-3:50 (1:20)
Crush On The Derbyshire 3:52-6:56 (3:04)

Out now: Harm's Way "Rust" CD/LP/Digital
“Rust” is the new album from Harm’s Way. Recorded at Brick Top Recordings by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Dead In The Dirt), mixed at God City Studios by Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire), and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Nails). Brutally and meticulously refined, “Rust” brilliantly combines industrial repetition (think Godflesh), metal attack (think Sepultura, Helmet, Celtic Frost), and hardcore aggression. Showing that Harm’s Way have emerged from the wreckage of past genres as the new high watermark of heavy in contemporary aggressive music.

Opener “Infestation” stomps with machine-like precision before plunging into a depressing sonic dirge. While songs like “Law Of The Land”, “Hope”, “Cancerous Ways”, and others introduce guitar and electronic driven atmospherics into the arsenal. These subtle dynamics bleed into other aspects of “Rust” as well. Mid-album beast “Left To Disintegrate” unfurls as an unforgettable anti-anthem ripe with infectious creeping metallic undertones. While “Amongst The Rust” and “Turn To Stone” introduce guest vocals from Colin Young (Twitching Tongues) and Emily Jancetic. Both of them adding haunting nuance to the brute force of the band. All of this leads to the epic closer “Ease My Mind”; a take-no-prisoners aural bludgeoning so heavy that it needs to be heard to be believed.

Out now: Lies (Hope Con members) and White Jazz (ex Rise and Fall) Split 7"EP
Lies are a vicious band featuring members of Skin Like Iron and The Hope Conspiracy. Their stripped down approach is a clear nod to Anti-Cimex, Skitsystem and other classic punk bands. Here they offer two crushing songs, “Cycle of Abuse” and “Deny Me”, both utterly relentless in the best way possible.

White Jazz are a frantic band featuring three quarters of Rise And Fall. Their high energy wall of sound is a throwback to the golden days when Black Flag and Minor Threat ruled the underground music world. Here they offer two songs, “Bliss” and “Gutter Rainbows” that are both infectiously discordant in tone.

Out now: Cult Leader "Lightless Walk" LP/CD/CS/Digital
Cult Leader are a chaotically aggressive band from Salt Lake City, Utah.

"Lightless Walk" was recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios (Converge, High On Fire, etc). From the first menacing thumps of "Great I Am", Cult Leader unleash grinding musical fury. "The Sorrower" gallops before crashing into a wall of heaviness as they vocally declare "...nothing will get better". The pessimistic spiral continues in "Sympathetic" and "Suffer Louder", two tangles of cacophony that give birth to crushers of ending riffs. "Broken Blades" then emerges as a near constant barrage, showcasing the technical prowess thriving underneath Cult Leader’s layers of grime. While "A Good Life" ushers in new dynamics, clawing through melodious dirt before taking flight again. "Walking Wastelands", "Gutter Gods", and "Hate Offering" are all metallic monsters in their own right, lurching towards the epically haunting pairing of "How Deep It Runs" and "Lightless Walk". Two songs that show Cult Leader at their most depressive and powerful as they recede into introspective darkness.

Out now: Loma Prieta "Self Portrait" CD/CS/Digital (vinyl on 11/13)
Formed in 2005, Loma Prieta have been a mainstay of the Bay Area hardcore community for a decade. While the band's sound is difficult to describe, it is clear that they come from the tradition of creative Bay Area hardcore bands such as Mohinder, Funeral Diner, Bread and Circuits, Yaphet Kotto, and Indian Summer. Eschewing sub-genres in favor of organically writing songs that are personally fulfilling, Loma Prieta ultimately makes each recording unique while managing to forge a distinctive voice all their own.

Self Portrait is the latest album from Loma Prieta; a ten-song masterwork recorded by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden Recording Studio (Deafheaven, Whirr, etc.). Opener "Love" layers unorthodox melodies amid a tangle of pensive, despondent vocals. These humanly complex qualities loudly bleed into every aspect of the album. Driven by feedback-drenched guitar work "Black Square", "Roadside Cross", "Net Gain", and "More Perfect" veer from one post-everything sub genre to the next, leading to the beautifully skewed "Nostalgia", a song that creeps from the haze with dark harmonic leanings. "Never Remember", "Merciless", and "Rings" venture down a similar crash and bang path before closer "Satellite" takes flight. An emotional epic that delves deep into introspection before finding total sonic obliteration. Self Portrait will be released on CD, cassette, and digital formats on October 2nd, and on vinyl on November 13, 2015.

See Loma Prieta on tour in Europe and the UK from July 23rd through August 22nd. More information, including song premieres and album pre-order for Self Portrait coming soon. In the meantime, look for a two-song seven inch, featuring side A "Love" and exclusive B-side "Trilogy, 0 (Debris)", to be available on July 24th.

Track Listing:
01. Love
02. Black Square
03. Roadside Cross
04. Net Gain
05. More Perfect
06. Nostalgia

Out now: Bitter End "Illusions of Dominance" CD/LP/CS/Digital
"Illusions of Dominance" is the monstrous new album from Bitter End, produced by Nick Jett (Terror, Piece By Piece). Thematically the album takes on the subject of mankind’s fragility in the face of nature’s overwhelming and unescapable power.

Opening crossover anthem "Power and Control" sets the tone with the potent lyrical statement "...Hammer coming down with overwhelming force, we’re on a collision course. Power and control, illusions of power and control..." From there Bitter End's dust storm simply never lets up. Introspection and anger blankets everything in "Truth, Lies, Fear", "Realm of Despair", "Long Time Gone", "The Crushing Madness", and "Conversations with Death". Each one, writhing and clawing with thrash precision and hardcore aggression. It’s not all speed and violence though; songs "Sting of Betrayal", "Pleasure and Pain", "Into the Unknown", and closer "No Man’s Land" choose to churn at a slower rpm but are just as lethal. Opting to let their hybrid hardcore/metal heaviness shine through the eye of the storm with mid-tempo battery and epic breakdowns.

Track Listing:

01. Power and Control
02. Truth, Lies, Fear
03. Realm of Despair
04. Long Time Gone

Out now: American Nightmare (GUTG) "Reunion Documentary" Blu-ray, HD Digital
American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) are one of the most important and influential hardcore/punk bands of the last two decades. The band’s volatile mix of traditional American hardcore, English influenced attitude, and Wesley Eisold’s emotional lyrical prose set a new creative standard for the worldwide hardcore community. Their sphere of influence is far reaching, serving as the bellwether to the giants of punk (AFI, New Found Glory, etc.), metal/hardcore (Hatebreed, GlassJaw, Converge, etc.), and even mainstream music (Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, etc.).

On December 29th and 31st, 2011, the last known incarnation of American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) reunited to play their first shows in almost eight long years. One in Boston and the other Los Angeles, these legendary shows were comprised of fanatic audiences who travelled from all over the globe. All to celebrate their intimate connection to the words and music of this highly influential band.

Years in the making, we are proud to present the official footage from these two historic hardcore shows in their entirety on 1080p BluRay and HD Digital formats. Out now: Planes Mistaken For Stars "Mercy" Reissue LP/CD/Digital
Available everywhere now.

Planes Mistaken For Stars formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1997, and relocated to Denver Colorado in 1999. From the outset, they were an artistic anomaly; carrying both a worn rust belt heart a warm midwestern soul. Collectively the band combined different kinds of musical rebellion; hardcore aggression, punk energy, and gritty rock n’ roll spirit into their own special noise. Ultimately laying the blueprint for today’s emotional punk rock resurgence.

From 1999 to 2006, Planes Mistaken For Stars released music on labels Deep Elm, Dim Mak, No Idea Records and more, before signing to Abacus/Century Media in 2006. After countless tours in those years with the likes of Converge, Against Me!, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Hot Water Music, the band flamed out and announced an amicable split in 2007. During that time members went on to play in Git Some, Bull Of Heaven, Hawks and Doves, and Wovenhand. In 2010, Planes Mistaken For Stars reunited for The Fest in Gainesville, Florida. In 2012, the band also reunited for a successful East Coast Tour. Since then, they have been quietly and persistently working on new music, due to surface on Deathwish sometime in the future.

Deathwish is proud to announce the reissue of “Mercy” from Planes Mistaken For Stars, their much-beloved and highly influential 2006 album. Along with newly revamped packaging, this definitive version has also been remastered from the original 1/2” tapes by Brad Boatwright at Audiosiege (Sunn O))), Modern Life Is War), sonically making it more powerful and textural than ever before. Produced by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Cursive) “Mercy” is a beautifully dark and melodious masterwork that is affecting in ways rarely experienced. Each of its eleven songs is a haunting yet hopeful personal tale, vulnerable but vicious in tone. Genre bending and ground breaking in their ability to intimately connect with listeners from all walks of life.

Out now: Coliseum "Anxiety's Kiss" LP/CD/CS/Digital
Midwestern post-punk luminaries Coliseum are slated to drop their highly anticipated new album Anxiety’s Kiss on May 5th via the venerable Deathwish Inc. (Deafheaven, Touche Amore, Converge, etc.). Anxiety's Kiss is arguably the trio’s most experimental album to date, an energized amalgamation of cathartic post-punk, frenetic underground rock, post-gothic ambience, and punk ethos that is easily the most realized representation of the bands' melodic ebb and flow to date. The stylistic diversity of the album falls together harmoniously under the powerful production of esteemed engineer and collaborator J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines), presenting a cohesive musical and lyrical rumination on humanity, love and lust spread across ten captivating songs.

Going on 12 years as contemporary underground rock influencers, Coliseum have creatively adapted throughout the years driven by the artistic vision of founder and bandleader Ryan Patterson, here again flanked by bassist Kayhan Vaziri and drummer Carter Wilson, who both now share songwriting duties in the band. Aside from broadening the band’s stylistic palette, the album also introduces some novelties for the group; "Comedown" is the first track to not feature Patterson on guitar, "Sunlight in a Snowstorm" is the most bracingly melodic the band have ever sounded, meanwhile the album’s lead single “We Are The Water”, the video for which makes its debut today via SPIN, kicks off with a buzzing keyboard melody before Coliseum’s patent barnstorming charge kicks in.

Out now: Modern Life Is War "Fever Hunting" CD/LP/Digital
Modern Life Is War are one of the most beloved bands in the punk rock/hardcore world of the last decade, appealing to everyone from the jaded to the driven. The band released three highly influential albums before announcing a temporary hiatus in 2007.

"Fever Hunting" is Modern Life is War's triumphant 2013 return to form with original lineup of Chris Honeck, Matt Hoffman, Jeffrey Eaton, Tyler Oleson and John Eich in place. A true story of their collective coming of age, "Fever Hunting" plays and reads as an open diary of their last five years. Exposing every frayed nerve and internal struggle that it's creators carried deep within their hearts. Impassioned, embattled, and forever resilient to the world outside.

From the first strikes of the anthemic opener "Old Fears, New Frontiers" it's apparent that Modern Life Is War have not lost a step in absence, but have quickened pace on their own path. From there, the outpouring is overwhelming as eleven songs unfurl with equal and unmatched emotional weight. All of them bravely moving forward rather than resting on past laurels. Recorded by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios (Converge, etc) and Mastered by Brad Boatwright at Audiosiege Engineering (From Ashes Rise, etc).

Out now: Self Defense Family "Heaven Is Earth" CD/LP/CS/Digital
Available everywhere now.

Self Defense Family are one of the most prolific Punk bands out there today. Through countless releases and as many musical contributors (they have had more than ten active members at any given time), the collective has grown in both sound and vision.

“Heaven Is Earth” was recorded at four classic indie/punk studios by a diverse group of engineers: Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios (Mind Eraser, etc), Kurt Ballou at God City Studios (Converge, etc), Mark Millar at Sone Lab (Dinosaur Jr, etc), and Jon Low at Miner Street Recordings (Kurt Vile, etc). Each engineer leaving their own distinct audio fingerprint on the collection of songs.

Opener “In My Defense Self Me Defend” percussively wanders as warped guitars weave a pillow for Patrick Kindlon’s introspective prose.“Talia” introduces both piano and harmonica to the formula, all of it swirling and dancing around a throbbing bass line. “Ditko” exists in a similar sonic place as well, but utilizes textural guitars and subtle effects to set the pensive mood. It’s not all sad clown music though. “Prison Ring” picks things up in the middle of the album with a Mekons like urgency. While “Everybody Wants a Prize for Feeling” welcomes a whimsical stomp akin to The Fall. These reluctantly upbeat songs lead to the title track “Heaven Is Earth”. A song that descends with a delicate airiness while dealing out some of the heaviest moments of lyrical personal reflection. “Basic Skills” fills a similar space as well. A beautiful construct of a song, rich in melancholia but built on some of the most memorable melody ever from the band. Never leaving quietly, Self Defense Family then offer the closer “Dave Sim”. Kicking the door open for one last high volume, pessimistic hurrah.

Out now: Fucked Up "Year of the Hare" 12"EP
Fucked Up are one of the most prolific hardcore punk bands of our generation. Since their 2001 inception, they’ve challenged listeners with thoughtful artful chaos and a seemingly limitless drive for musical experimentation. Because of this, they’ve also become a record collectors worst nightmare; releasing over 80 recordings and collaborations on countless labels that include Arts & Crafts, Matador, Jade Tree, and more.

Fucked Up “Year of the Hare” is the latest installment of their Zodiac themed releases. Over a two year period, it was recorded and constructed at Electrical Audio, Key Club Studios, and Candle Studios. Title track “Year of the Hare” is a 21 minute epic that frantically mixes traditional instrumentation, piano/synths, flutes and sax, experimental editing/soundscapes, and guest vocals from great Isla Craig into one dizzying experience. While B-Side “California Cold” slowly builds and deconstructs over an 8 and a half minute stretch. Organically shifting from jangly melodic-punk anthem into a fuzzed out psychedelic jam session. Eclectically blending musical styles and voices in the most, well, Fucked Up way possible.

01. Year of the Hare (21:38)
02. California Cold (8:21)

Cold Cave is the creative rebirth of acclaimed musician and writer Wesley Eisold. Cutting his teeth in underground bands American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) and Some Girls, Eisold's body of work has truly effected a generation of listeners. Through constant cross-pollination Eisold has gained mass appeal, influencing underground and popular culture with his ever evolving artistic vision.

With an already prolific number of releases, Cold Cave has become a name synonymous with the contemporary resurgence of Darkwave and Synth Pop sub-genres. Propelling Cold Cave to perform at world class museums The Getty and the Guggenheim, as well as performances with legends Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Nine Inch Nails, among others.

Deathwish are proud to announce “Full Cold Moon” from Cold Cave, now for the first time on 12”LP vinyl format (a CD collection was released on Eisold’s Heartworm imprint in 2014).

Out now: Burning Love "Down So Long..." 7"EP/Digital
Burning Love are an unapologetic punk band from Toronto, fronted by vocalist/lyricist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Left For Dead, Ruination, etc). Burning Love's approach is more nuanced than his previous bands. Mixing raw melody and swagger (akin to Laughing Hyenas, Poison Idea, etc) into their hardcore blood. Since 2007, Burning Love have released a number of records on labels like Deranged, High Anxiety, and Southern Lord.

"Down So Long" b/w "Medicine Man" is a two song banger of an EP, recorded by Josh Korody at Candle in Toronto (Fucked Up, etc). Opener "Down So Long" emerges from ghostly feedback with an unrelenting punk romp. Lyrically addressing the social chaos of our world askew, despite the illusion of military and political order. While the infectious "Medicine Man" addresses fashionable drug addiction in the punk world, despite the trail of havoc that it cuts through the most wounded of world populations.

Out now: Self Defense Family & Creative Adult Split 7"EP
Available everywhere now.

A split release between Deathwish and Run For Cover Records.

Creative Adult comes from the diverse musical breeding ground of California's North Bay Punk scene. With hardcore roots, they explore noisy, sometimes psychedelic sounds with an undeniable Dischord styled edge. Their song “Americans” meanders and builds as if were an ’85 era Punk anthem. Using musical repetition and biting social commentary to create a dark, infectious atmosphere.

Self Defense Family are one of the most prolific Punk bands out there today. Through countless releases and as many musical contributors (they have had more than ten active members at any given time), the collective has grown in both sound and vision. Their song here, “Somertron” is the band at their best. An experimental tangle of guitar melody swirls as Patrick Kindlon’s unmistakable story telling swells into a beautiful, fracturing crescendo.

Out now: Touche Amore & Self Defense Family "Self Love" 7"EP
Available everywhere now.

TASDF “Self Love” is a collaborative release between Touche Amore and Self Defense Family members. “Self Love” was created by 15 musicians working together as one band, all eventually captured by engineer Will Yip (Blacklisted, Title Fight) at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA.

A-Side “Circa 95” is an upbeat combination of Touche Amore’s explosive emotional leanings and Self Defense Family’s trademark cynicism. As the song twist and turns, it peels and curls to reveal layers of guitars and dueling percussion. All while lyrically paying subtle homage to hardcore legends Unbroken. While B-Side “Low Beams” begins with a contagious jangle before erupting into an catchy sonic finale. Telling the story of nomadic displacement; the highs, lows, and in between that many who travel the open road experience.

Out now: Self Defense Family "Indoor Wind Chimes b/w Cottaging"
Recorded by Jamie Savage at Chem 19 Studios (Franz Ferdinand, Arab Strap) in Glasgow, Scotland.

Challenging is one of the best words to use when describing Self Defense Family. With this release, vocalist/lyricist Patrick Kindlon and Company continue down their seemingly limitless creative road.

Opener “Indoor Wind Chimes” paints a brutal yet honest picture of the end of days. Poetically exploring the rarely discussed politics of dying on a foundation of a beautiful melodious riff. B-Side “Cottaging” is some of Self Defense Family’s best work to date. In it Kindlon, tells his tale of a staling relationship amid complicated mistakes. Through his gift of unflinching realism, he makes his brand of self deprecation a touching and emotional work of art. Without a doubt, this is another stellar release from one of today’s most prolific underground bands.

Wovenhand is a band led by dedicated life-musician and lyricist, David Eugene Edwards. Over the last two decades, his prolific work in both Wovenhand and the legendary 16 Horsepower has influenced and inspired a generation of musicians throughout the expansive alternative music world.

Wovenhand cannot be described in traditional terms. Their sound is an organic, weavework of neo-folk, post rock, punk, old-time, and alternative sounds. All coming together as a vehicle for David's soulful expression and constant spiritual self exploration. Sometimes sad and sorrowed and at other times uplifting, Wovenhand are always unforgettable in spirit and sound.

"Refractory Obdurate" is the latest album from Wovenhand. Joining David on this album are longtime percussionist Ordy Garrison, along with musicians Chuck French and Neil Keener (Planes Mistaken For Stars, Git Some).

"Refractory Obdurate" is a moving masterwork that shows Wovenhand exploring louder roots hinted at on prior albums. As they maintain their melodious course, "Good Shepherd", "Field of Hedon", and "Hiss", stomp forth with a newly amplified punk rock heart. While "The Refractory", "Salome", and "Obdurate Obscura" each ascend epically into a multi-layered haze. "I Am King" is the new album from Code Orange (formerly Code Orange Kids), recorded at God City Studios by Kurt Ballou. Unpredictability is the law as Code Orange navigate through their distorted world. Title track "I Am King" shifts from "heavy" to "hard to define" through the use of unorthodox guitar work/percussion and chaotic structure. While songs "Dreams in Inertia", "Starve", and "Bind You" all wear an art-rock crown while claiming a metallic throne. It's not just melodious experimentation though, "Unclean Spirit", "My World", and "Thinners of the Herd" show Code Orange reimagining what aggressive music can be. Elevating and expanding what can be done within the confines of it without leaving it behind entirely. Proving that Code Orange are true artists and not just "kids" anymore.

Track Listing:
1. I Am King
2. Slowburn
3. Dreams in Inertia
4. Unclean Spirit
5. Alone in a Room
6. My World
7. Starve
8. Your Body is Ready....
9. Thinners of the Herd
10. Bind You
11. Mercy

Out now: Cold World "How The Gods Chill" CD/LP/Digital
Years in the making, "How The Gods Chill" is the definitive Cold World album that the hardcore world has been clamoring for. Recorded by Will Yip (Studio 4) and Arthur Rizk (Salomon's Gate) "How The Gods Chill" is a thirteen song amalgamation of Hip Hop character and Hardcore heart. Openers "Blind" and “The Real Deal” bounce and stomp akin to "Urban Discipline" era Biohazard. While "Never Knows Best" and "No More Fun and Games" melodically and respectfully pay homage to influential legends Only Living Witness and Life Of Agony. It wouldn’t be a Cold World album without a myriad of diverse guest appearances. Queens rapper Meyhem Lauren, George Hirsch of Blacklisted, legendary Kool G. Rap, and even Max B are all featured on the album. Altogether creating an infectious melting pot of sound and spirit unlike anything out there today.

Out now: Punch "They Don't Have To Believe" CD/LP/Digital

Punch is a socially conscious hardcore band from San Francisco, California. They carry a recognizably spastic sound with pulverizing breakdowns, intelligent song structures, and brutal vocals. Their debut EP, "Eyeless" (2008), "Self Titled" LP (2009) and second LP "Push Pull" (2010) were joint releases on record labels 625 Thrashcore and Discos Huelga. Their 2011 EP "Nothing Lasts" was released by a partnership of 625 Thrash, Discos Huelga, and Deathwish Inc.

They have toured North and South America, Japan, Australia, and Europe.

We are proud to announce the release of "They Don't Have To Believe" from Punch. Recorded by Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden Studios (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor, etc.) "They Don't Have To Believe" is a monster of an album. Fifteen songs that blur the lines of hardcore and grind. All of them personal, political, and uniquely unapologetic. Buzzing with an electricity that is rare to experience in today's world of heavy music. No polish, just pure rage.

Out now: Coliseum Deluxe Reissue 2XLP/CD/Digital

Founded by Louisville musician Ryan Patterson and including Kayhan Vaziri and Carter Wilson, power trio Coliseum have grown to become one of today's quintessential contemporary punk bands. Successfully melding progressive musicianship, hardcore fervor, and vital social awareness into one constantly evolving artistic vision.

Over the last decade Coliseum have released music on a host of labels including; Temporary Residence, Relapse, Level Plane, Auxiliary (Ryan’s own label), and even Deathwish (“True Quiet / Last Wave” 2009).

And now, 2014 brings Coliseum and Deathwish together again as their permanent label home. “We have a long and storied history with Deathwish and their family of bands,” says Patterson. “Not only did we work with the label on the ‘True Quiet’ 7”, we’ve toured around the world with Deathwish bands, released a split with Doomriders early on, and I’ve been fortunate enough to design a number of Deathwish releases. While Coliseum officially joining the label’s roster is a new chapter for us, it feels like a homecoming.”

To celebrate Coliseum’s 10th anniversary, we are proud to present the “Coliseum” Deluxe Reissue: A twenty song collection featuring their classic self titled debut album (out of print since 2006) paired with eight essential bonus tracks from their primordial years. Originally recorded by Jason Loewenstein of Sebadoh and now fully remixed by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, the release also features new deluxe packaging, insightful liner notes, and cover artwork by John Baizley of Baroness.

YAITW "Final Dose" video up now at AVClub.com
By Jason Heller, Jun 4, 2014 7:55 AM

"It’s been three years since North Carolina’s Young And In The Way released its hardcore-meets-black-metal debut, I Am Not What I Am. Now slightly less young YAITW has unleashed a new full-length, When Life Comes To Death, on Deathwish Inc., the label cofounded by Converge’s Jacob Bannon. It’s even more vicious and visceral than its predecessor, as evidenced by the crust-caked, gore-smeared video for “Final Dose,” which is being debuted here. There’s no guarantee that the band’s upcoming set on July 23 at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, Massachusetts—as part of this year’s inaugural Deathwish Fest—will be as bloody. But it might not be much of a stretch. When Life Comes To Death is available now via Deathwish Inc."

Out now: YAITW "When Life Comes To Death" LP/CD/Digital

YAITW (Young and in the Way) are a blackened metal/crust hybrid from the shadows of North Carolina. Over the last four years YAITW have evolved through multiple releases from vicious monster to multi-headed beast. With each offering melding a vicious metal speed and hypnotic atmospherics with a bleak hardcore/punk spirit.

"When Life Comes To Death" is the newest album from YAITW. It is their eleven song war between the pain of living and the magnetic pull of death. Each song is as dispirited and vitriolic as the next. Embattled opener "Betrayed By Light" emerges from darkness first, setting an ominous tone with haunting buzz-saw guitars, vicious vocals, and crushing d-beat drumming. While YAITW embrace demon speed and emotional dynamics in nihilistic hymns "Be My Blood", "Take My Hand", "We Are Nothing", and more. All leading to closers "Shadow of Murder" and "Embrace Extinction", that together play as an aural eclipse of truly epic proportions.

Track Listing:
01. Betrayed By Light
02. Fuck This Life
03. Be My Blood
04. Self Inflicted
05. Loved and Unwanted
06. We Are Nothing
07. Final Dose
08. Weep In My Dust

11. Embrace Extinction

Out now: Cult Leader "Nothing For Us Here" 12"EP/CD
Cult Leader are the next evolutionary leap forward for three-quarters of Gaza, arguably one of the best metallic bands of the last decade. After the early 2013 dissolution of the aforementioned band, remaining members Michael Mason, Casey Hansen, and Anthony Lucero were joined by bassist Sam Richards to form this brand new beast.

"Nothing For Us Here" is a complex crusher as you would expect. Brilliantly heavy, technical musicianship complimented by Anthony Lucero's newfound brutal vocal delivery (previously he played bass in Gaza). All of it coming together as an unconventional tangle of metal/hardcore/punk wreckage. Proving that even in their primordial state, Cult Leader are capable of standing as contemporaries Converge and Coalesce as new monsters of the aggressive music genre.

Bossk "Albatross" video by Felix Dickinson, 7"EP out now
"Albatross" by Bossk is taken from their "Pick Up Artist b/w Albatross" 7"EP out now on Deathwish.

Footage filmed live at Scala in London by Felix Dickinson.

Bossk are an atmospheric post-everything band from Ashford, Kent, England. The band released four promising recordings ("1", "2", the "3" DVD, and a split EP w/ Rinoa) on their own Eyes Of Sound label before taking temporary hiatus in 2008. After four years of dormancy, Bossk awoke from their slumber collectively inspired to create in 2012. The band then performed at UK's Damnation Festival In the Fall of 2012, and entered the studio to record the "Pick Up Artist". A seven minute textural epic that is crushingly heavy and uniquely melodic. Crashing forward in two unique movements, "Pick Up Artist" has a hypnotic ebb and flow that carries Bossk passed obvious influences (Isis, Neurosis, etc.) as they expand into new uncharted territory. The song was released to the public via free download in the Fall of 2012 to critical acclaim. In 2013, Bossk completed a UK Tour (their first in four years) with Dragged Into Sunlight. The band also managed to enter the studio to record a version of Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross". A beautiful track that allows Bossk to explore the more serene peaks and valleys of their ever evolving sound. Deathwish recently released these two spectacular songs as one 7"EP.

The band are currently writing a new album, due out on Deathwish sometime in the future.

Death Of Lovers is a new band featuring current members of Whirr and Nothing, formed from a bond members made while touring together in 2013.

Although Death Of Lovers carries qualities of members previously applauded efforts, they carry a shimmer and fuzz all their own. Dreary vocals, slow motion melody, and plodding percussion swirl together to create a crushingly depressing atmosphere. Kicking up the dust of their prominent influences (Joy Division, The Cure, etc) as they explore the fractured depths the of their uniquely haunting sound. A beautifully addictive introduction to their greatness to come.

Touche Amore "Is Survived By" album in stores now

"Is Survived By" is the anticipated new album from Touche Amore, produced and engineered by Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Sunny Day Real Estate, etc) and mastered by Hans DeKline (Lisa Loeb, mewithoutYou, etc).

"Is Survived By" shows Touche Amore embracing a maturation of their trademark melancholy. The sounds are welcomingly familiar; inspired percussion amid a sea of imaginative guitars and impassioned vocals. However, the underlying unrest is more complex and touching than any previous Touche Amore release before it. Simply put, these are not simple "love" songs that dwell in the past, but complex "life" songs about living in the present. Throughout the entire album vocalist/lyricist Jeremy Bolm digs deeper in search of personal catharsis, allowing us to relate to his drive to be clearly heard, truly understood, and unapologetically remembered. "Is Survived By" not only shows growth in subject matter but musicianship for Touche Amore. The jangly guitar work of Clayton Stevens and Nick Steinhardt is on a new level here. Throughout the release they effortlessly entangle one another to construct beautiful yet unexpected melodies. While the explosive rhythm section of Tyler Kirby and Elliot Babin shines in the frenetic pace they keep. Achieving a stunning balance of hook laden listenability and emotion.

Without question, "Is Survived By" is another masterwork from Touche Amore. More importantly, it is a release that lives up to the promise of past releases while not repeating it. Not a departure, but a continuation down the remarkable road that they alone travel.

Track Listing:
01. Just Exist
02. To Write Content
03. Praise / Love
04. Anyone / Anything
05. DNA
06. Harbor
07. Kerosene
08. Blue Angel

Out now: Harm Wülf "There's Honey In The Soil..." 12"LP

Harm Wülf is the bedroom musical entity of G. Hirsch, known for his moving lyrical and vocal contributions in Philadelphia's Blacklisted. Harm Wülf's debut album is a collection of songs which touch upon the dark and rustic themes of solitude and aging disappointment. Inspired by a wide range of artists: from the tranquil resonance of Low, rhythmic acoustic strumming of Strength Through Joy and the ascending power of Angels Of Light, to the insular, grotesque Americana of Cormac McCarthy and Flannery O'connor. Most times sparse and austere, others apocalyptically orchestrated, Harm Wülf has the sound of something long since missing.

Doomriders "Grand Blood" CD/LP/Digital out now

"Grand Blood" from Doomriders is the follow up to their highly regarded 2010 album "Darkness Comes Alive". "Grand Blood" was engineered by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, and features artwork from Thomas Hooper as well as packaging from Ryan Patterson (Coliseum) and J. Bannon.

Where "Darkness Comes Alive" was smooth and heavy in tone "Grand Blood" is jagged and hard in its heart. "Grand Blood" is Doomriders pushing themselves into wilder sonic territory previously unexplored by the band. In songs like "Back Taxes" and "Bad Vibes", an angular noise rock influence takes the lead, creating a harsh and charged environment. Not to fret, the hooks Doomriders are known for are as sharp as ever though, sinking into songs like the personal "Dead Friends" and melodious and emotional "Gone to Hell". Two songs that impressively showcase Nate Newton's evolving vocal ability. While monsters "Father Midnight", "New Pyramids", and "Death In Heat" are Doomriders at their heaviest and discordant to date. All complimented by new drummer Q (Magic Circle, Clouds, etc), whose frantic style powers this genre crossing masterpiece.

Track Listing:
01. New Pyramids
02. Mankind
03. Grand Blood
04. Bad Vibes
05. Dead Friends
06. Death In Heat
07. We Live In The Shadows

Out now: Self Defense Family "Try Me" 2XLP/CD/Digital
Your favorite band's favorite band, Self Defense Family enjoys a distinct renown within the punk community. Well-respected and critically lauded but difficult and idiosyncratic, the band has done things their way almost to a fault. Eschewing sing-alongs and easy anthems in favor of personal lyrics, they stand apart from their contemporaries in punk and hardcore. Their strangely tense guitar-work framed within otherwise hook laden songs lends the band an unmistakable sound. Opting to be heavy in emotion rather than heavy in sound.

Led by vocalist, lyricist, and personality Patrick Kindlon, Self Defense Family have extended their branches to organically include touring and session musicians. Allowing them to evolve into a musical collective with more than ten active members at any given time. Interestingly enough, no member of the assemblage has played every show or played on every recording by the collective.

Out now: Harm's Way "Blinded" 12"EP/CD

Harm's Way are an absolute force of a band from Chicago, Illinois. They made a name for themselves with masterful releases on the Organized Crime and Closed Casket Activities labels. With their punishing "Isolation" album (Closed Casket, 2011), Harm's Way brutally melded a metal attack, hardcore aggression, and industrial repetition into a new kind of sound. Creating a balance of intensity and originality rare in today's world of music.

The evolution of Harm's Way continues with "Blinded", their new 12"EP/CD on Deathwish. Illustrated by Florian Bertmer (Converge, Pig Destroyer, etc) and recorded at Brick Top Recordings by engineer Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos), "Blinded" is a crusher from start to finish. Songs like "Frontal Lobe" and "Live to Loathe" are the band at their heaviest and most adventurous so far. All of it fueled by a vitriol and pain that makes them stronger than all.

Out now: Cold Cave "Oceans With No End" 7"EP
Cold Cave is the creative rebirth of acclaimed musician and writer Wesley Eisold.

Cutting his teeth in underground bands American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) and Some Girls, Eisold's body of work has truly effected a generation of listeners. Through constant cross-pollination Eisold has gained mass appeal, influencing underground and popular culture with his ever evolving artistic vision.

With an already prolific number of releases, Cold Cave has become a name synonymous with the contemporary resurgence of Darkwave and Synth Pop sub-genres. Propelling Cold Cave to perform at world class museums The Getty and the Guggenheim, as well as performances with legends Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain, among others.

"Oceans With No End" EP is the latest offering from Cold Cave; a two song industrial indulgence that features Eisold performing all forms of instrumentation on the release. Title track "Oceans With No End" uses upbeat electronics to create a melodious wash for Eisold's pensive vocals to tread within. While B-side "People Are Poison" plods forth with an angry swagger in direct juxtaposition to the title track's driving urgency. Together they are a blindingly beautiful example of morose music at its very best.

Out now: Deafheaven "Sunbather" 2XLP/CD/Digital
ecorded and engineered by Jack Shirley (Funeral Diner, Comadre) and designed by Nick Steinhardt (Touche Amore) "Sunbather" deals with the profound sadness found in the quest for one's personal perfection. Serving as an artistic lucid dream of warmth despite the stinging pain of life's cruel idealism.

With opener "Dream House" George Clarke's tortured vocals familiarly intertwine with Kerry McCoy's hypnotic guitar work before crashing into a wash of post-everything melody. This leads to the moving instrumental "Irresistible" a track that carries a twisted indie-like sensibility buried beneath glittery layers of guitar and piano. However it is in the title track and beyond where the maturation and growth of Deafheaven brightly shines. In "Sunbather" they explore sonic peaks and valleys created by superb percussionist Daniel Tracy (new to the band for this recording). His inclusion brings new dynamics to light as an urgent pulse to the swirling musical chaos. Pushing bleak epic "Vertigo" and the dark emotional closer "The Pecan Tree" to new, awe-inducing heights.

Without question "Sunbather" is Deafheaven at the peak of their creative strength and vision of their young existence. A masterfully crafted work of art that will be renowned for years to come.

Track Listing:

1. Dream House
2. Irresistible
3. Sunbather

Out now: Oathbreaker "Eros|Anteros" CD/LP/Digital

"Eros|Anteros" is the breathtaking follow up to Oathbreaker's critically acclaimed "Maelstrom" album (Deathwish 2011). Where "Maelstrom" acted as individual fragments of aural shrapnel, "Eros|Anteros" is a monstrous shockwave of sound. It is Oathbreaker's story of love and the anti-love (life and death), and the growth they have experienced through these trials.

In opener "Beeltenis" (Dutch for "Portrait") layers of melodious guitar cry out to one another through the blackness. Acting as a ghostlike warning before Oathbreaker whips calm to chaos. "No Rest for the Weary" then abruptly crashes forward with breakneck speed and from there the floodgates of "Eros|Anteros" are open. As vocalist Caro Tanghe lets out the hair raising screams of "I'll never know what it means - this deadly calm inside", it's clear that this album is more potent and personal than most heavy music; this is a collective soul searching for the band. This is most apparent in brother and sister songs "As I Look Into the Abyss" and "The Abyss Looks Into Me". A stunning pairing that shows Oathbreaker racing through razor sharp metallic riffing before erupting into a vicious emotional explosion. This quarrel continues throughout the "Eros|Anteros", finally coming to a head in the haunting closer "Clair Obscur". A brilliant eleven minute epic that carefully balances shoe-gaze leanings with their wounded post-metal heart.

Track Listing:

1. Beeltenis
2. No Rest for the Weary
3. Upheaval
4. As I Look Into the Abyss
