Recorded by engineer by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, "True Nihilist" is The Hope Conspiracy's latest, and possibly greatest, recorded effort to date. From the first seconds of opener "In The Shadow Of God", it is apparent that something wicked has awoken. With a rhythm section sounding like the beating heart of an animal about to pounce on its tender prey, the electricity they collectively create hangs in the air throughout the release. Making hairs stand on end before bursting out with their now trademark rage and intensity. Shockingly violent, this inhuman pace continues through the next ripper "Greed Taught...", until the epic closer "Dismal Tide" crashes down as emotional debris from the fury. All in all, the three masterful tracks that make up "True Nihilist" are The Hope Conspiracy in true form, truly untamable. Silencing the naysayers, this beast is back.

Shipping now: Reign Supreme "Testing The Limits Of Infinite" CD/LP
Pre-orders for this release (both CD and LP) are now shipping!!! If you pre-ordered, keep an eye on your mailbox, as your order will arrive VERY soon. As always, thanks for your continued support.

Reign Supreme are one of the heaviest/hardest metallic hardcore bands to surface from Philadelphia. Led by former Blacklisted member Jay Pepito on vocals, they wield the same devastating musical hammer as bands like Crowbar, Terror, and Integrity. Yet come out swinging with a conviction and rage unlike anyone before them.

"Testing The Limits Of Infinite" is Reign Supreme's highly anticipated debut full length album. Produced by Will Putney at The Machine Shop (Lamb Of God, VOD, Every Time I Die), "Testing The Limits..." takes the accessible metallic hardcore foundation popularized by many, and injects a fresh warm blood deep within it. The result is a new breed of anthemic metallic hardcore; immaculately executed, intensely heavy, and refreshingly unpredictable. Songs like "Persevere And Overcome" and "Slipping Away" smash through expectations with earth moving power, while the introspective instrumental "Waiting" as well as the winding "To Live And Die (In Vain)" show a sonic diversity rarely found in heavy music. Proving that Reign Supreme are a true anomaly in today's music world, playing the role of both the hammer and the nail.

Rise And Fall Update: "Our Summer Is Vicious...", new album coming soon
In a couple of days from now we will be embarking on an extensive European summer tour in anticipation of our upcoming album "Our Circle Is Vicious". We will be joined by our good friends in Have Heart and Shipwreck ad. It's been quite a while since we did some serious touring so we are definitely anxious to hit the road. As far as the record goes, there is no set release date yet, but it should be out shortly after summer, early autumn of '09 ...finally. We are extremely stoked on the record and can not wait to get it out there. We'll be playing some of the new songs live so you can get a taste of what's to come.

After this upcoming tour we will be playing a whole bunch of shows and festivals in August & September. The last months of '09 will see the release of "Our Circle Is Vicious", more touring which should lead us to stages across the USA, Europe and Australia, so keep your eyes peeled.

In other news, upon getting back from our last US trip (we were over to record and play some shows on the east coast) Rise And Fall and longtime drummer JP decided to part ways. We have found a replacement in Daan, who some of you might know from Justice and Rhythm To The Madness. Daan is a true phenomenon and genuine weirdo, so he should fit the Rise And Fall mold perfectly.

Shipping now: Victims: "Lies, Lies, Lies 7"EP and Pre-order packages
All Pre-orders for this release are shipping now from DWHQ.

Sweden's Victims are proud to announce the release of "Lies Lies Lies", a brand new 2 song 7"EP on Deathwish. Fresh on the heels of their celebrated full length, "Killer", Victims once again take aim with their trademark punk/crust weaponry and fire into willing ears. Recorded at Studio Overlook and featuring artwork from J. Bannon (Converge), this release features two hook-laden songs embrace the band's contemporary d-beat leanings even more than previous efforts. The end result is an infectious two song blur, that shows this already classic band sharpening their skill-set while still sonically evolving. Firmly cementing their place among the leaders, not followers, of the true underground punk/hardcore community.

Narrows "Gypsy Kids" video, "New Distances" CD/LP out now
Narrows have unveiled their video for "Gypsy Kids", from their recently released "New Distances" album. This fantastic video was conceived and directed by London born / Spain based filmmaker Craig Murray (My Black Cat). Check out his other work at the links below.

NARROWS: GYPSY KIDS (2009) 872 x 480 from My Black Cat on Vimeo.

Growing up doesn't mean growing soft. Though the transition into adulthood and it's cumbersome responsibilities typically goes hand in hand with complacency and the urge to settle into comfortable routines, it's necessary to remember that maturity and a placated existence are mutually exclusive behavioral patterns. Look only to the refined musical maelstrom of Narrows for confirmation.

Spread out across both the United States and two continents, Narrows exists despite geographical inconveniences for the sole purpose of creating devastating noise. Though outside obligations will most likely relegate the live Narrows experience to a truly rare event, the shared need to exorcise their collective demons fuels the trans-global project. Dave Verellen (Botch, Roy), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls, Over My Dead Body), Ryan Frederiksen (These Arms Are Snakes, Nineironspitfire), Jodie Cox (Tropics, Rohame, Bullet Union), and Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys, Quarantine) are busy men with busy lives. The Narrows project is not meant to define and drive their individual lives. Rather, the band serves as a respite; a rare opportunity to escape; a vengeful howl from the basest corner of the psyche. In those rare moments when the five men find themselves in the same city, the quintet seizes the opportunity to combine their disparate talents to craft their unique brand of aural malice.

Now Narrows will offer up their first proper full length album titled "New Distances". Anchored by a minimalist punk framework and elaborated by squalls of angular guitar noise, the music is simultaneously beguiling and dissonant. Helmed by Verellen's signature roar, the resulting compositions owe as much to the early hardcore pioneers as to New York and London's post-punk founders. Terminally bleak, counter-intuitive to the standard rock paradigm, and at odds with everyone, Narrow's debut is an angry slab of nihilistic abandon.

Narrows "New Distances" CD is out now.
Pre-orders for the LP version have begun shipping from DWHQ.

Narrows "New Distances" album receiving great reviews!!!
Mammothpress.com:
"...Supergroups. A lot tends to be said whenever well-known musicians break away from their home-bands and collaborate with others and form so-called supergroups. Regardless of genre, fans either hate the idea or embrace it as a further projection of their favorite bands’ sound and experience.

This collaboration between bands and members tends to be a more common occurrence in the hardcore and punk genres. There are too many to list; and into this category the band Narrows can be added. The band’s pedigree reads like an all-star team of hardcore: Dave Verellen (Botch, Roy), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls), Ryan Frederiksen (These Arms Are Snakes), Jodie Cox (Tropics), and Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys, Quarantine). For the band’s debut full-length via Deathwish Inc., New Distances, each member has brought their own band’s sound into the mix and created a juggernaut of aggressive music. Upon initial listen to New Distances, there seems to be no clear agenda as to what the band sounds like. Is it hardcore? Is it punk? Is it post-Noise? Is it aggressive and heavy? The answer is a resounding yes on all accounts.

Even though all members are spread out over the U.S. and overseas, New Distances is the sound of five guys locked together in a room breaking down any and all misconceptions of heavy music. This album is angry, introspective, calming, disturbing, and countless other emotions that seem to wash over with each and every listen. It’s as if all members have taken their individual experiences and emotions in life and bands and threw them in a blender with little abandon.

It seems fitting that the album cover art is that of a hand right out of Grey’s Anatomy book superimposed on a road map transparency in front of a dark forest, because Narrows have clearly created a new blueprint of emotionally aggressive music to be followed in the hardcore genre. This band is a lot more than a “supergroup”. They are a powerhouse to be reckoned with. Narrows is a mighty Viking warrior and New Distances is the great sword they are wielding to conquer all. Fans of hardcore music will be talking about this record for a long time. Trust me on this...Rating: 9 out of 10..."

SMNnews.com:
"...When the folks at Deathwish Inc announced the signing of Narrows to their heralded roster last year, post-hardcore junkies let out a collective “fuck yes!” Featuring Dave Verellen (Botch), Ryan Frederickson (These Arms Are Snakes, Nineironspitfire), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls), Jodie Cox (Tropics), and Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys), Narrows sounds exactly like they should. The guitars, while angular, pack punch bringing to mind bands like Shellac and Jesus Lizard but the parts owe more to the hardcore and metal informed racket of their prior projects. Cox and Fredericksen stack one dissonant riff on top of the other never letting up during the band’s full-length debut, New Distances.

On tracks like "Newly Restored" and "A Restoration Effort," the band plows through the material with air-tight precision but enough looseness in certain spots revealing a "rockier" side to their style. Verellen's bark is as potent and venomous as his days in Botch but he's also introduced more clarity in his delivery which fits in nicely. The album opens with "Chambered: which encapsulates the strongest aspects of Narrows's attack in the span of a couple of minutes. From there on, New Distances doesn’t let up. The group proves throughout the album that they not only possess the technical skills to make their chaotic songs believable, they also know when to hold back and let parts breathe. That’s the kind of songwriting craft that many of the younger bands these musicians have helped influence lack. Hopefully Narrows overcome their geographical issues (members live spread out in the U.S. and the UK) and keep on creating post-hardcore this vital...8 out of 10"..."

Sputnikmusic.com:
"...Hardcore super group Narrows follows up their not amazing but promising self-titled 7” with New Distances. The band consists of guitarists Jodie Cox(Tropics), Ryan Frederiksen(These Arms Are Snakes/Nineironspitfire), drummer Sam Strothers (Quarantine/Makeout Boys), bassist Rob Moran(Some Girls/Unbroken), and vocalist Dave Verellen(Botch/Roy). If you’re looking for intensely heavy music with breakdowns and blast beats you won’t find it here. New Distances takes a very different and intelligent approach to hardcore...4 out of 5..."

Out now: Coliseum "True Quiet / Last Wave" 7"EP
Founded by Ryan Patterson (Black Cross, National Acrobat) over a half decade ago, and since solidified by Mike Pascal and Chris Maggio, Coliseum have grown to become today's quintessential contemporary hardcore/punk band. Successfully melding their progressive musicianship, punk fervor, and vital political/social awareness into one intense vision.

Originally based in straight-ahead hardcore and classic punk, Coliseum have continued to progress with each recorded effort. Before finding a permanent home on Relapse records in 2006, Coliseum released music on both Ryan's own Auxiliary label, as well as on Level Plane Records. Coliseum's first full length for Relapse, "No Salvation", was released in the summer of 2007 and was met by praise from critics and kids alike.

To celebrate the longtime friendship between Coliseum and Deathwish, we are proud to announce the release of Coliseum's "True Quiet / Last Wave" 7"EP. Featuring artwork by friend John Dyer Baizley (Baroness, Kylesa, Cursed), "True Quiet / Last Wave" gives us the first taste of Coliseum's evolution since 2007's "No Salvation". The hook laden A Side "True Quiet" takes hold with its all too familiar story of self imposed isolation, told to a dc influenced metallic jangle. While the percussively driven B Side "Last Wave" serves as a hair raising commentary on the ethical and economical darkness of our present day. Both songs collectively embodying the honest artistry that defines Coliseum at their very core.

A new Coliseum album is due out on Relapse sometime in the future...

Out now: End of a Year "Self Titled" 7"EP
End of a Year started as a way to kill time for Albany musicians already involved in full-time bands. Having spent time playing "heavier" music, the initial End of a Year line-up was interested in trying something more overtly melodic.

After releasing a number of releases End of a Year caught the attention of Revelation Records, and in 2006 they released the "Sincerely" album on that label. Since the release of "Sincerely", End of a Year have released a number of 7"EPs and split 7"EPs on various labels worldwide.

Their latest release (and first on Deathwish) is a fantastic 7"EP recorded by End of a Year guitarist Andrew Duggan. Picking up where previous releases left off, the hook laden opener "Robert E. Howard" explodes with a discordant crash and bang. A fitting sonic backdrop to vocalist Patrick Kindlon's uniquely honest and poetic diatribe. This theme carries into the other two songs on the release "Gray Morrow" and "Walter Miller Jr". Collectively all three songs carry an organic ebb and flow that brings to mind the ghost of Rites Of Spring as well as other influential Revolution Summer-era DC bands.

This release features original artwork from acclaimed artist Erol Otus, illustrator of the early Dungeons & Dragons franchise.

George of Blacklisted interviewed by Bad Luxury Blog
Here's an excerpt:

"...Speaking of, Does letting go of your darkest thoughts through
writing and singing give you any sort of outlet or comfort from those
very thoughts themselves?

The new Blacklisted album has a line that says "No one will ever come for me, No one will ever comfort me", I feel as though I am included in that "No one". I see myself as just a man behind a curtain. I may be on stage, being loud and really upfront and emotional, but the reality of it is, that is the only time I am like that. Blacklisted is my machine and it always has been, when I am playing I am controlling it, but if you get to know me, or know anything about me, I am just a small scared man behind it. So I never feel comforted by it, if anything it just hinders me emotionally because at one point everyday there was this 20 minute window where I was a machine and then the other 23 hours and 40 minutes of the day I am someone who swims around in their head all day feeling like everyone hates me and I am the most disgusting person on the planet..."

A studio update from Rot In Hell, new album in 2009...
Rot In Hell are currently in the studio recording their new album, to be released on Deathwish in early 2009. Here's some words from the band:

"...It's like some fucking jack the ripper shit here; loads of fog which has meant that Nathan is stranded and fog-bound in Malta. We had a violinist come down, she's just left actually, the stuff she's done is absolutely mind blowing; some seriously mournful shit; I'm thinking Mean Season meets My Dying Bride. You'll love it, it will make you weep...

OK laters, glory glory man united..."

Pulling Teeth "Paranoid Delusions..." receiving great reviews!!!
Decibel Magazine: "...8 out of 10"

Punknews.org:
"...4 out of 5 stars...Ultimately, this release is a total exploration of contradictions. From the title and dual covers (done as an awesome shifting hologram for the LP release) to the lyrics and music they are set to, the clash of conflicting images, literal and metaphorical, seems to echo the conflicts of reality: life and death; rich and poor; and security and adventurism. The whole works to complete a large and satisfying artistic statement..."

Sputnikmusic.com:
"..."Paranoid Delusions / Paradise Illusions" is a record that helps define Pulling Teeth as one of Deathwish’s more sophisticated bands and leaves them being viewed in the same mindset as label heavyweights like Converge, Cursed, and Integrity. The sophistication in the textural aspects on this record with the incorporation of guitar, bass and synthesizers, is both heavy and melodic as can be seen by the variety of sounds achieved on "Paradise Illusions," from its field recording introduction to its final explosion. As of now Pulling Teeth seemingly has released the best heavy record of 2009..."

Themusicalfinger:
"...Paranoid Delusions/Paradise Illusions is an album that shows a hardcore band that can do much more than play four chords and say "fuck you" a lot. Pulling Teeth is responsible for an early contender for year-end AOTY honours. A must hear..."

Hardtimes.ca:
Talk about digging deep. Is there any style these guys can’t pull off with flair? Baltimore nonconformists Pulling Teeth are going to surprise many with the direction taken on their sophomore Deathwish Inc. release, "Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions," not only with the band’s clear desire to allow a wider variety of influences bleed into their trusted Discharge-meets-Slayer-meets-Motorhead form, but also with the length and overall content contained within this at times overpowering EP..."Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions" is not exactly a distancing from the 'core, but it certainly is the most branching out the band has done since launching a few years ago. This is not some confused experimentalism; it's Pulling Teeth growing darker and more challenging, both lyrically and musically, than ever before. If punk and hardcore are indeed meant to shake things up within the scene, both for the sake of progression and stimulating the same in fellow artists, then Pulling Teeth are on the verge of achieving exactly that end with "Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions." Artists Jeff Beckman and Jake Bannon, who respectively created and designed the packaging for this release, deserve a hand for a concept so vividly realized that it almost sells the release itself. While Romeo's far-reaching ability and creativity on guitar cannot be understated, "Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions" marks the first time the Canadian-born veteran brings out doom rock and ambient textures from his bag of riffs. We must not forget that it was Romeo who literally invented Canadian deathcore with his first band, Ontario’s notorious Day Of Mourning, nearly a decade before bands like Despised Icon and Beneath The Massacre seemingly discovered the beauty of fusing hardcore and brutal death metal, and also performed live with Ringworm after the Cleveland pioneers lost Frank 3 Gun to Terror. Those expecting another “Martyr Immortal” will be forced to replay “Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions” enough times to realize that their favorite band has, whether deliberately or not, inched their trade closer to a true sound of despair and emotional despondency, all the while compromising none of their integrity or appeal. Frontman and agent provocateur Mike Riley adapts impressively to Pulling Teeth’s first real foray into experimentalism, employing not only his vicious snarl but also whispers and spoken-word when called for, notably on the EP’s closer. If the music itself doesn’t lead to jaws touching the ground, the lyrics sure will. On "Unsatisfied" and "Bloodwolves," Riley is activist-minded and so determined and unfazed that it’s frightening..."

Noisecreep.com:
"...Baltimore, Maryland's Pulling Teeth is certainly pulling all the stops with their third full-length release. Collaborating key elements in hardcore, metal, and even a dash of punk this album is sure to please fans of the loud, hard, and fast..."

Lambgoat.com: "...Pulling Teeth make yet another argument for their place in the upper echelon of modern hardcore..."

Out now: Pulling Teeth "Paranoid Delusions | Paradise Illusions" CD
"Paranoid Delusions | Paradise Illusions" is the latest work from Baltimore hardcore mainstays, Pulling Teeth. Painstakingly recorded and engineered by Chris Camden at Ultrasound over a three month period, "Paranoid Delusions | Paradise Illusions" is a conceptual piece of immense artistic depth and darkness.

Songs like the bruising "Unsatisfied" dig deep to reveal monstrous dirges that rival any doom metal artist. While the Slayer influenced "Bloodwolves" is as volatile and infectious as a song can be. Though the aforementioned songs are truly brilliant works, it is Pulling Teeth's new found mastery of emotional ebb and flow which shines as their real strength. This awe inducing quality is revealed in the stunning two title tracks, "Paranoid Delusions | Paradise Illusions". Collectively both songs are a monumental achievement of soulful guitar work, Moog driven textures, and insightful prose. A near perfect example of how a band can evolve without abandoning the heart and raw energy that defines the "hardcore/punk" genre at its very core.

The "Witches Sabbath" 7"EP series by Pulling Teeth features musical tributes/renditions of the bands which have influenced Pulling Teeth since their inception. The musical content of each 7"EP in the series remains secret and unlisted on the minimal packaging of each release. The only way to find out what song(s) are on your 7"EP is by experiencing it for yourself.

Victims "Killer" CD getting great reviews, available now everywhere!!!
Aversionline.com:
"Killer" is the latest full-length from Sweden's almighty Victims, coming to the US this week from the always top-notch Deathwish Inc. Victims is one of those bands that really stood out right from the start for me, and I've been a big fan ever since. Their take on heavy and aggressive Swedish hardcore always seems to have a little more energy and memorability, and the 16 tracks in 24 minutes cranked out here only continue down that path - though with more variety and punch than ever before! The backbone is still very much the same (only a handful of the songs top two minutes, so everything's still pretty fast and in your face), but the songwriting is catchy as fuck this time around, and really does cover a lot more ground in order to provide individual identities for many of the compositions. From the 25-second blast of thrashy melody in "Try?" (which kinda reminds of me The Exploited or something); to the fiery, rocked out dual guitar bursts of "Destroy and Rebuild"; to the straight-up punk rock attack of tracks like "Holy Shit"; and of course plenty of the driving, bass-heavy Motörhead-inspired runs and classic D-beat rhythms you'd expect from such an album. It's definitely some of their finest work to date, and should absolutely please anyone who may have complained of the band's material sounding too similar from song to song in the past. Very well done…

Lambgoat.com:
"...Bottom Line: There is absolutely no surprise here. Victims' Killer is a perfect reminder of how modern crusty hardcore can still be memorable -- fans of Disfear, Perth Express, Cursed, and Trap Them will love every minute of this. And a big thanks to Deathwish for giving this record a release more accessible to stateside kids (Killer was originally put out on Finnish label Combat Rock Industry last year). This kicks ass...8 out of 10..."

SMNnews:
The folks at Deathwish Inc. do it again! This time the Massachusetts label is issuing Killer, the latest full-length from Swedish d-beat terrorists VICTIMS. Fans of Dropdead, Skitsystem, and most of the bands down with Profane Existence will absolutely lap this shit up! There’s nothing fancy here. What you get here are short, driving, and punked up songs that are economic and direct in their intent.
Johan Eriksson delivers each vitriolic lyric with the focused rage they deserve. Jon Lindquist’s guitars thrash forward like nobody’s business, bringing to mind Pete Koller’s (Sick of it All) tone. Another strength of Victims is their penchant for making this stuff still come off catchy. Songs like “No Reason” even have gang chorus parts that are instantly memorable yet absolutely crushing in the same moment. For this North American re-release of Killer, Ryan Patterson (also of the might Coliseum) hands in a classic looking layout that compliments the band’s anarchic spirit. This is the kind of fast punk that will surely also appeal to the death metal hordes...8 out of 10..."

Hardtimes.ca:
"...Not everything must be innovative to retain integrity and be artistic. Swedish hardcore crust punk veterans Victims are case in point, having had their fifth full-length “Killer” just licensed in the U.S. by Deathwish Inc., and simultaneously being on the verge of yet another wild year of bringing their Discharge-inspired hardcore punk to greater audiences worldwide. Victims are billed pretty high up at this year’s highly-touted Maryland Deathfest, an impressive feat considering the technicality of the bands they will be sharing the stage with, not to mention the fickle nature of death metal audiences. But all death metal initially came from fast, downtuned punk that Motorhead and then Discharge pioneered, so with Victims’ reputed live ferocity and buzzsaw riffing, they shouldn’t have a problem being one of the standout acts at the festival. Their sound also just got a whole lot thicker, having added prized guitarist and songwriter Gareth Smith to their lineup, formerly of the long-running UK doom sludge monsters, Raging Speedhorn. Victims fits in perfectly to Deathwish’s roster and their Swedish lineage will only help in the label’s quest of expansion into the dark, desperate undergrounds existing across the ocean, where so many of the label’s bands have wowed crowds for years. From their fitting beginning on a Discharge compilation on which they tackled “Doomsday,” to their following years releasing album after 7” on the Yellow Dog, Havoc, and Scorched Earth Policy labels, Victims have proven themselves just as worthy of the hype accorded in recent years to the Tomas Lindberg-fronted Disfear as one of the most convicted and viable nihilistic, primitive hardcore bands emanating from Europe. Musically, Victims have their feet firmly planted in the early days of hardcore and punk, whether it be the British scene of the late 70’s and early 80’s, the ensuing early-to-mid 80’s movement in New York, or the more recent but equally influential nowadays early-90’s Swedish hardcore crust/punk scene that was born shoulder-to-shoulder with the fabled Swedish death metal scene..."

Trap Them "Seizures..." gets great review from Teethofthedivine.com!!!
"...Seriously people, its about time we start talking about New Hampshire’s Trap Them as one of the US’s best kept metal secrets, as with their second full length album, the band has once again delivered a sonic donkey punch that mixes crusty chaos and hardcore (think Converge), Rotten Sound and the midrange pummeling of Wolverine Blues era Entombed.

Featuring Brian Izzi of US underrated black metal pioneers December Wolves (Completely Dehumanized remains a landmark album for me) and Ryan McKenney of hardcore stalwarts Backstabbers Inc, Trap Them, in their short but productive career (2 albums, 3 splits/Eps) have evolved into a simply punishing act that has evolved from their more crust and grindcore roots to a more developed and restrained act with a truly potent sound and delivery.

Continuing the “days” (though out of sequence) from their prior releases, Barren Praise tells ten fictional tales of the town Barren Praise and delivers them in mostly short bursts of crusty, virulent fury (”Day Twenty Eight: Targets”, “Day Twenty Nine: Reincarnation Of Lost Lones”, “Day Twenty Five: Guignol Serene”, blistering “Day Twenty Three: Invertopia/Day Thirty: Class Warmth” and “Day Twenty One: Roam/Day Twenty Two: Absent Civilian”) and moments of grooving, utterly pummeling lurches (”Day Nineteen: Fucking Viva”, mid section of “Day Twenty Six: Angles Anonymous In Transit”, “Day Twenty: Flesh & Below”, “Day Twenty Four: Gutterbomb Heaven On The Grid” and heaving, seven-minute closer “Day Thirtyone: Mission Convincers”), which cement the Entombed reference. Both styles rendered with a face ripping Kurt Ballou sound that comes across like Mieszko Talarczyk’s best work sent through Sunlight Studios, a gravel filter and 5 vials of meth. It reeks of the kind of energy, ferocity and mix of styles that The Red Chord once had on Fused Together in Revolving Doors.

I’m really glad Deathwish Inc. picked this band up and has released 2 efforts, though both leave me craving more. This is an American band kids and the media should be paying attention to rather than pandering to the likes of Job For a Cowboy and Suicide Silence and other such wigger metal bands.

Trap Them receives praise from Exclaim!, Punknews.org, and more!!!
Trap Them "Seizures In Barren Praise" CD/LP reviews have been rolling on in:

"...Expect the same eclectic, discordant mix of skuzzy punk, classic hardcore, and buzzsaw guitars that raised eyebrows with last year's release, though this time around the four-piece sounds a bit more congealed and purposeful. Pissed off, insanely loud, and ambitious in scope, Trap Them might take a spot in many hardcore fans top ten lists this year with Seizures in Barren Praise"...4 out of 5 stars..."

- Decoymusic.com

"...While making a list of best riffs of the year is not something I would ever do, the ending of "Day Twenty Nine: Reincarnation of Lost Lones" would top it if I were to lose all respect for myself and make such a list. The record also closes on a high note with the seven-minute-long dirge-riffing fiesta "Day Thirty One: Mission Convincers." I know there's a lot of people out there that are not huge fans of heavy music, but like to pick up a good hardcore or metal release every once in a while. For those people needing something heavy to fill that void, I would recommend checking out this release. It's super heavy with great production, immediately accessible and still retains a strong punk vibe...4 out of 5 stars..."

- Punknews.org

"...Holy shit. Although I loved their Seance Prime EP from last year, this totally blows that away. Trap Them have a brutal intensity like a beast unleashed from the pits of hell, and what blows my mind is that they're a three piece! Think Converge, His Hero Is Gone and Integrity. Seizures In Barren Praise is dark, ire-fueled hardcore just like I love it. And, did I mention they're brutal? Yeah. They are..."

- Issueoriented.com

"...The chaotic and malicious Trap Them had a lot to live up to after Sleepwell Deconstructor and Seizures In Barren Praise continues exactly as it should. Immediately Seizures connects to their last effort with Day Nineteen: Fucking Viva, which features the same crusty and bass-heavy feel they're known for, igniting a blood churning energy, and Day Twenty Eight: Targets unleashes Trap Them's unrelenting grindcore speed and technical ability. Guitarist Brian Izzi's Entombed-like buzz saw guitar is a constant menace throughout this album and, coupled with a decimating bass rhythm, sets the ideal stage for Ryan McKenney's gravelly vocals, as well as his ominous lyrical content, creating a perfectly abominable beast. At times, this album does wander off into an avenue of reduced tempo but even so remains a musical vice, crushing with irresistible force via Day Twenty-Four: Gutterbomb Heaven On The Grid and Day Thirty-One: Mission Convincers. Much like their last effort, Seizures keeps the tracks succinct and subdued, with the anger and haste reassuring any fan of Trap Them that this band have honed and polished their decimating sound..."

Trap Them "Seizures..." gets great review from Pastepunk.com
"...Grind and d-beat are not my usual musical genre of preference, but there's something about Seizures in Barren Praise that makes it a blitzkrieg that I can latch on to. This release has teeth!

Maybe it's one of the last bastions of Bush-era inspired spiteful music, but there's a depression and a clarity to the chaos that permeates the record. I'm being beaten over the head by distorted, fuzzed out guitars and a bass as muddy as a swamp, but TRAP THEM still feels sprightly as they deliver a beatdown to my uncultured ass, and this includes the sludgy parts. Even when I have no idea what Ryan McKenny is vocalizing about, there's a sense in my mind that there's a real depth to the lyrics, whatever the hell they are (the lyric sheet being unhelpful in terms of legibility and of accuracy, McKenney having said that there's three batches of lyrics, one of them written down [God help you, this isn't a lyric sheet, it's an art piece, so good luck in figuring out what's being said], the other recorded and the third whenever the band goes on tour). It sometimes feel like an exercise in aural punishment to get more out of the music. This again, may be the point.

Tracks 2 through 9 blur together, since there's only so many ways in my mind "are you sure your arms aren't going to fall off" drumming, heavy, heavy distortion and raging baselines can go together and be coherent, and if you like the genre, then I don't think you'll be let down - it's sufficiently brutal, and then some. The only reasons why the first and last songs "Fucking Viva" (1:41) and "Mission Convincers" (7:20) stick out is because they're both slow...er and because "Mission Convincers" is longer than the first three tracks combined.

I plead my ignorance of the genre but I think I'll be listening to Seizures for a while to come. It makes me want to bulldoze through a college campus coffee house, leaving a swath of destruction, with bloody, broken, ripped limbs in my wake. Reviews tell me that this is slower and sludgier than the rest of their discography, so if, apparently, this is TRAP THEM throttling back, I don't mind.

I really want to make some kind of statement about real metal, but that seems like too much of a silly hierarchy, so I'll say this. Whatever it is in Seizures feels accurate, truthful and direct. It indulges my id's desire to listen to something primal and violent. When I enter the bleakness of Seizures In Barren Praise, I feel like I've found something real..."

Trap Them "Seizures..." receives a 9 out of 10 from Lambgoat.com
Here's an excerpt:

"...Trap Them can do no wrong. Granted, it's only been one calendar year since the band made their Trash Art debut, but very few acts have been able to garner as much attention and momentum in such a short period of time. The band's transition to Deathwish in late 2007 with their Seance Prime EP proved to be a logical step, but it also hinted at future excellence and created even loftier expectations for the New Hampshire group. And while the pressures and difficulties of living up to the hype of a sophomore full-length may be very real dilemmas for some, they didn't blink. The result is Seizures in Barren Praise, Trap Them's finest work yet..."

"...Of all these releases, the TRAP THEM record is the most surprising. I'm digging the grind and dbeat tunes that populate the disc with a meat-eating grin. Maybe it's the place in my life, but, Seizures is beyond visceral for me. I don't listen to the genre, so I can't tell you why I like it except for aural chaos. Trap Them "Seizures In Barren Praise" CD/LP out now!!!
Trap Them "Seizures In Barren Praise" CD/LP is out now.

Once again engineered by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios, "Seizures In Barren Praise" shows Trap Them at their most vicious. Having mastered their art of aural bludgeoning, the album musically rips, stomps, and claws forth with rabid emotion. All of this a fitting backdrop to Ryan Mckenney's lyrical stories of depression and pain.

"Barren Praise" is a fictional ghost town version of every non-fiction town" says McKenney. "Lyrically, previous Trap Them releases are all stories from people who had lived in "Barren Praise" before deciding to up and leave. This is the story of those who stayed behind to tell the stories of watching everything unfold..." states McKenney.

Upon listening, it's hard not to picture fragments of your own life as part of the chaotic debris that are these fictional lives. The friends, family, and faces of those that make up the ensemble cast of your own life are all there, indirectly. Making "Seizures In Barren Praise" a broken mirror into their world and your own, exposing every fear, weakness, and wound. All of it set to one of the heaviest and most punishing metallic soundtracks, ever.

Carpathian "Isolation" CD/LP out now!!!
Carpathian "Isolation" CD/LP is out now.

Since forming on Victoria Australia's Mornington Peninsula over five years ago, Carpathian have been an indestructible force on unstable ground. Hampered by incessant line-up changes, they've nonetheless managed to assert their dominance in the Australian hardcore pack. Releasing their debut EP through Washed Up label in 2005, they were signed to Australian label Resist, who issued the acclaimed full-length album "Nothing to Lose" the following year. Further forging their reputation on the live front, Carpathian played second-fiddle to no one, whether mixing it with the cream of the local scene or stepping up onto bigger stages for tours with Killswitch Engage, Bleeding Through, etc. After battling line-up changes, a freshly unified Carpathian line-up toured through the UK and Europe alongside Parkway Drive and On Broken Wings. Later they became the only local band to play every date on the Australian legs of the 2007 Taste of Chaos Tour. Then in December, came the first recording by the rejuvenated line-up, a limited two-song 7"EP via Resist titled "Wrecked", unveiling a frightfully intense new Carpathian sound.

Soon after they converged upon the Getaway Group, a studio situated in the basement of Jay Maas' suburban home in Wakefield, Massachusetts. A respected hardcore producer who has pulled huge sounds from the likes of Shipwreck a.d. and Verse, Maas proved the perfect choice to help Carpathian realize their grand vision for "Isolation".

Within each of the ten songs that comprise "Isolation", Carpathian's overall growth is apparent. Cohesive song-writing, fantastic recorded performances, and a powerful collective vision shine throughout. Lyrically "Isolation" walks the desolate personal path of Carpathian vocalist/lyricist Martin Kirby. Taking on personal and social/environmental subject matter, he strives to not only express but also educate willing ears to live as positively in this negative world. Instilling the fact that Carpathian are one of the few bands out there today that remain as inspiring as they are highly entertaining.

After months of silence, Rise And Fall have issued a massive update regarding their upcoming album, to be released on Deathwish in 2009. Also be sure to check out the photos (to the left) of the band constructing their new practice space, it's pretty amazing...

Rise And Fall Update Late September '08

Today is september 29th and it's crazy to realise that almost a year has passed since we originally booked studiotime at Godcity in november '07. All 4 of us thought it would be challenging and above all possible to write a record within a really narrow timeframe, starting the minute we ended our last US tour in august '07 'till we would hit the studio in november that same year, and that it would make for a record where all songs add up to one compact beast.

However we forgot to take in account that nothing is ever easy when it comes to Rise And Fall and even more so when it comes to writing. None of us wanted to write the same record we already wrote. While "Into Oblivion" came as a natural progression, the next step up from the previous record "Hellmouth", now we stepped away from the blueprint that determined our writing process. While working like that makes space for creative input from all angles it also takes away the very foundation of what you are used to when creating music.

As stated higher none of us wanted to make same same record we already did but whilst doing so we also kept in mind that we wanted to write and record a record that is 100% Rise And Fall. So taking that in account, also losing our rehearsal place 3 times, building our own rehearsal place with the help of our roadies Arne and Wouter, to not have to deal with those problems anymore, encountering times where we would rather fight eachother than play music together and experiencing the disadvantages of a democracy within a band first hand...all of this brings us one year later.

As we speak we are recording demos for 8 tracks we are satisfied with at this point, we have scheduled another demo session early '09, we're stoked Kurt @ Godcity still wants to work with us after we flaked out on him last year and are looking forward to the experience of working with him. And above all, we will be more than stoked when a new Rise And Fall record is fact instead of some vision in our heads. Keep posted to be updated on how our writing is coming along and more Rise And Fall related news in general.

All yours and sincerely,

RISE AND FALL

Cold World interview up now @ SMNnews.com
Here's an excerpt:

"...Have you heard Cold World yet? Fans of straight-up hardcore (not metalcore) definitely have to check for this band. Their sonic foundation is built on the blueprint old-school NYHC groups like Breakdown, Killing Time, and Outburst first laid down twenty years ago. But on their recently released Dedicated to Babies Who Came Feet First album, Cold World fuse the groove elements that Life of Agony explored on their debut record as well as throw in some of the hardest lyrics this side of Nas. SMN News spoke with drummer and lyricist Nick Woj about the band, his love of rap music, and the financial struggle of being in a touring hardcore band..."

Cold World "Dedicated..." gets 4 out of 5 review from Punkbands.com
"...It seems to be a CD that always makes its way into my player.

The production on Dedicated to Babies... is very well done, very similar to typical N.Y.H.C. sounding records. Having Billy Graziadei, guitarist of Biohazard, always helps with that. With this record, Cold World defiantly push themselves into a level of hardcore that has them being remembered for years to come. This is a great full length debut for this band. I'm not counting No Omega due to the fact that it was a compilation of three different releases. I only see this band continuing to push hardcore forward into new realms..."

Ressurection "I Am Not: The Discography" to surface in early 2009
"...Within months, the sound and ideologies that dominated the hardcore
scene from the mid 80's into early 1990 had literally collapsed as if
an entire scene had "grown up" and gave in all at once. Looking back
it should have come as no surprise. A scene that was predicated on
being an individual had become as pathetically uniform as the world it
claimed to disdain. It died because it no longer had a pulse.

In early 1991 a few friends decided that sound, feeling and emotion
was more important than mere memories and that ideals didn't need to
be confined to the sounds of the past. There were no goals, no
strategies and no need to over think what could be. Ressurection set
out to play as loud and as often as possible.

Musical influences? Black Flag, Bl'ast, Absolution, whatever. A
message? At times straight edge, at times political and at times just
hurt kids. Simply put the idea was to say what you feel and feel what
you say, no limitation. Simply put Ressurection was noise and feeling.

Between 1991 and 1994 Ressurection played well over a hundred shows
around the US while releasing 2 ep's, an LP and a few tracks on
various compilations. The beauty of Ressurection? The sole focus on
the energy of the live setting. The downside? That same sole focus on
the energy of the live setting! When recording the I Refuse LP the
band was in heavy debt from touring and used all of the recording
budget to pay off their debts leaving $200 to record, mix and master
the record and, of course, buy them something to eat during this
process. The result was not pretty. Over the years this remained a
regret shared by the members of the band.

In 2007 the idea of a discography was brought up to the fine people at
Deathwish Inc. and within weeks the recording reels were dusted off
and Kurt Ballou completed a remix at Godcity Studios. The result is a
19-song discography entitled, "I am not: The Discography",
containing remixes of all three records along with the original mixes
of the first ep and initial recording of the bands first song.

Ressurection was at one time or another Robert Fish, Chris Zusi, Ari Katz, Dan
Yemin, Dan Hornecker, Chris Daly, Dan Cav, Chris Corvino, Little Dave,
Norman Brannon and Brian Maryansky.

These fine chaps also spent time making noise with the likes of
Release, Lifetime, 108, The Judas Factor, Deadguy, Floorpunch, The Van
Pelt, Kid Dynamite, Paint it Black, Texas Is The Reason, Jets To
Brazil and New End Original..."

We are currently gathering source material for this project.
Any one who has flyers and/or photos of the band, please get in touch.

Killing The Dream "Fractures" gets 9.5 of 10 from Scenepointblank.com
"...I'm going to be straight up; Fractures is the most anticipated album of 2008 for me...

...Killing the Dream continue to thrust through Fractures with a hardcore assault that draws from the likes of Unbroken, Turning Point, and other 90's greats. The band balances the more chaotic influences with their more ambitious and experimental sounds perfectly, never coming across as forced. The album does feature some pretty intense moments. "Everything but Everything" concludes with a devastating breakdown that really redefines the heaviness of the band. It is followed by four sub-two-minute blasts of sonically charged hardcore. On the flipside is "Holding the Claws" with its interweaving guitar melodies. Closer "Resolution" clocks in at over four minutes; it comprises nearly a fifth of the total recording time of the album. While the team of Rogers and Guild lay down dramatic guitarlines, Frantini supplies marching drums. Chase plucks the bass with spontaneity, adding to the fullness of the song. Horner completes the operatic closing with his emotional delivery. The second half comes together as a paring of angst-driven hardcore and meandering post-rock and its pure bliss to listen to...

...Killing the Dream never seems to disappoint me. From the get-go with their demo up until now with their latest offering I have loved everything they've put to plastic/wax. Fractures is my mid-season contender for album of the year, it's going to take something pretty amazing to knock it off..."

Killing The Dream "Fractures" CD/LP getting great reviews!!!
Killing The Dream "Fractures" CD/LP reviews have been rolling in over the last few weeks. A variety of great blogs/publications have had some kind words including Unbound, Ultimate Guitar,Pastepunk, and more.

Here's a solid quote from Unbound zine:

"...If someone said that Killing the Dream was the future of hardcore I would say that the genre has a pretty bright future to look forward to. If there is one thing we need it is more forward thinking bands that can take the original sounds of the genre and twist it into something unique. It's time for the death of metalcore and metal bands that call themselves hardcore. Fractures might serve as the final nail in the coffin and Im am relived that hardcore still has a band this dangerous as Killing the Dream is definitely a wolf amongst a tremendously large flock of sheep..."

Converge "Jane Doe" Deluxe Gatefold 2XLP to be reissued on Deathwish
Originally released during turbulent times in September 2001, "Jane Doe" was one of the darkest, bleakest, and most punishing acts of musical emoting ever committed to tape. "Jane Doe" took Converge's musical aggression, creativity and penchant for artistic nihilism-as-therapy to unparalleled emotional depths. While unmistakably Converge in sound, it reached harsher and more emotionally draining levels of abuse, relenting on, but not entirely abandoning, technical precision to focus on emotional upheavals and an all-or-nothing buffeting.

In the end, aggressive music would never be the same, as this 12-step conceptual journey of despair and loss, raised the bar musically and visually for the genre forever.

We are proud to announce that Deathwish (under exclusive license from EVR) will reissue the classic "Jane Doe" album on vinyl format. Available or the first time in over 6 years, this 2XLP will be packaged in a Deluxe Gatefold sleeve, and will feature a variety of vinyl color variations, appealing to collectors and audiophiles alike.

Pre-ordering for this release will be launched soon.

Converge "Thousands Of Miles Between Us" DVD coming soon
We are proud to announce that Converge "Thousands Of Miles Between Us" is now in the planning stages. Their previous DVD, "The Long Road Home" (Deathwish 2003), was one of the first quality punk/hardcore DVD's ever released.

This new project will again raise the bar of what should be expected from music DVD releases. As the title suggests, "Thousands Of Miles Between Us" will document the bands travels across the world, showcasing the best live moments from their touring around the globe. Shows from Europe, Japan, and the U.S. will be featured, some sets even in their entirety. All this along with interviews with band members, crew, and friends who have been part of the bands ongoing touring legacy.

More news on this release will be available as the project progresses.
